Junior Applications Engineer
Laser Marking & Welding Applications
Currently, we are seeking a positive, self-motivated, career-oriented individual interested in becoming an integral part of the process development, demonstration, applications sampling, education and training team. The successful candidate can expect to be trained by LaserStar to ultimately be responsible for working with customers from a variety of different backgrounds dealing with the Medical Device, Industrial, Firearms, Aerospace, Automotive, Tool & Die, Jewelry and Dental Laboratory Industries.
This individual will be responsible for being an asset to many different departments within the company and will require mechanical aptitude, public speaking, troubleshooting skills, and problem-solving skills. This individual would also need to be flexible with regard to travel. While the travel wouldn’t be on a regular basis the opportunity could present itself multiple times with a month. We are searching for a candidate that can wear multiple hats and is comfortable with instructing clients on advanced concepts within the Laser Marking & Welding Industry. A strong candidate would have experience in the field of Lasers, Optics, CNC Machining, Graphic Design, or anyone that has laser process experience.
The candidate will go thru a rigorous 16-20 week training program.
Minimum Requirements
- College Degree (Photonics, Mechanical Eng. is a plus)
- Valid Driver’s License
- Proficient with MS Office Suite and Excel
- Comfortable using software process applications such as G-code, Visual Basic, etc.
- Experience with vector design programs like AutoCAD, Solid Works, etc.
- 1 to 2 years of hands-on experience Mechanical, Electrical, or other Trade Industry Fields including Information Technology and Computer Science.
- Strong Writing Abilities
- Experience in using tools like Calipers, Depth Gauges, and Micrometers
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Familiar with laser technology
- Familiar with general CNC equipment
- Familiar with motion control systems
- Bi-Lingual (Spanish) a plus
Essential Duties and Functions:
- Train and interact with clients in accordance with any and all up to date technical knowledge of product line.
- Set up and operate production equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to customer specifications.
- Assist Software and Mechanical engineers in developing, building, or testing prototypes or new products, processes, or procedures.
- Plan and utilize training SOPs to meet production and schedule requirements.
- Perform and assist with Feasibility Tests, Proof of Concept, Statement of Work, Research & Development, and Equipment Demonstrations.
- Write technical reports outlining feasibility test results.
- Perform technical demonstrations for new clients while assisting Sales and Service Departments with technical instructions.
- Perform training courses instructing clients on all aspects of the purchased products.
- Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices, or products.
- Travel to customer site to perform training tasks.
- Perform virtual training courses remotely with clients.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Drivers License and clean MVR record & BCI record.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to lift and move equipment (lift up to 50 lbs), the ability to transport, set up and demonstrate equipment at LaserStar, customer and tradeshow sites.
